On 15th through 16th December 2023, UMATI conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Morogoro town to celebrate its achievements in 2023 and approve the plan for 2024. Prior to the meeting opening, members who are the main members of the AGM welcomed their special guest of honour Hon. Mwantumu Mahiza, the Board Chairperson for Tanzania NGOs. She thanked UMATI Board and management for the invitation to this vital meeting and more importantly for the contribution toward changing people’s lives especially women and young people. “UMATI has contributed a lot of positive changes to the Tanzanian communities for over 60 years, I argue that you assess your impacts and use the 2022 census report to conduct research in regions that are found with more SRH challenges and address them accordingly”.

In his speech to the AGM members and Guest of Honor, the UMATI Board Chairperson Mr. Swed Twaib Swed presented the 2023 UMATI Board’s achievements including the opening of two new volunteer branches in Kigoma and Katavi regions, launching of three new projects and review of constitutions. He highlighted the objectives of the AGM to the members. He said, “the AGM members will receive the annual report from the Board, discuss and approve the 2024 Annual Plan”. Members will also review and approve the UMATI constitution to align the requirements of the Tanzania NGO registrar”.

Before the opening of the meeting, the Executive Director, Ms Suzana Mkanzabi addressed the AGM members presenting the incredible achievement UMATI has made in 2023. She said “We have provided over 1 million SRHR services and Family planning services to 858,726 Tanzanians, and reached over 350,000 Youth on SRHR education and information.
