YOUNG AFRICAN LEADERS ACADEMY (YALA) PROJECT YOUNG LEADER SELECTION CRITERIA
The YALA Project aims to improve access to adolescent and youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information and services in Tanzania. The project will leverage the Grantor’s methodology for SRHR advocacy and social/behavioral change. As part of the project implementation, the Theatre for Change approach will be utilized as an innovative tool for social transformation and empowerment. This approach uses drama, storytelling, and performance to address social issues, inspire action, and foster dialogue within communities. The core objective of Theatre for Change is to create a platform for young people to express themselves, reflect on societal challenges, and explore creative solutions.
To implement this project successfully, UMATI will recruit four young leaders who will serve as key implementers in driving the project.
These young leaders will play a crucial role in the project’s success and are expected to meet the following selection criteria:-
- Leadership, Communication, and Organizational Skills
- Applicants must demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and organizational capabilities.
- They should be dependable, able to meet deadlines, and consistently deliver high-quality work.
- The ideal candidate should also have the confidence to communicate openly and honestly, especially when challenges arise during project implementation.
- Age Requirement
- Applicants must be between 18 to 35 years old at the time of application.
- Expertise in SRHR Issues
- Applicants must have a strong knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues, particularly in the context of SRHR advocacy for youth.
- Applicants with innovative ideas in the area of Theatre to drive change and have passion for youth leadership in SRH and gender equality.
- Fluency in English
- Applicants must be fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Valid Travel Passport
- Applicants must possess a valid travel passport for the duration of the project.
- Commitment to Full Project Duration
- Applicants must be able to commit to serving throughout the entire project implementation period, at least 2 years.
- Clear Communication and Collaboration Skills
- Applicants should demonstrate the ability to clearly express ideas and collaborate effectively with others in a team environment.
- Good Character and Integrity
- Applicants must possess strong personal integrity and a good character, serving as a positive role model for others.
